Synctoy install fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I can't get the install to run.
Here is a cut and paste of the Detailed error message.

Setup has detected that the file 'C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD4495.tmp\Microsoft Sync Framework\Synchronization.msi' has changed since it was initially published.

See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD4495.tmp\install.log' for more information.

    Any Help is appreciated.

    Chris

  • Hi -

Can you download the synctoy setup to your local machine and run it locally? The other thing you could try is to install the sync framework from here and then run the SyncToy install?

  • Hi, I have the same, or a very similar problem: In one of my sync folders, the sync process got hung up on completely "innocent" files (i.e. a simple word file), and as a result I could never complete the sync for that particular folder (when I temporarily removed the file in question, it hung up on another one, also seemingly randomly). So, I decided to uninstall SyncToy 2.0, and reinstall it. Have done this multiple times now (rebooting after uninstall), but now I can't launch SyncToy at all, it just does not do anything when I double click it. Strangely, the install seems to proceed completely normally, no warnings/issues, but the icon symbol is "empty" (not the usual SyncToy graphic). Any ideas what I might do to get it working again? OS: Vista Home Premium, everything worked nicely for years before...

  • Hi -

Sorry I cannot say for sure what is wrong but it does look like the application has not been installed. Can you uninstall the Microsoft Sync Framework V1 and Microsoft Sync Framework Services V1 as well and then try installing SyncToy 2.0?

    Thanks
