Startup Repair without keyboard/mouse support?? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • To start, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
Basically what happened was I was transferring some files to my external HD and it was taking a long time, so I canceled the transfer then everything froze. So after some time (and trying to reboot via Ctrl-Alt-Del) I manually shutdown the computer.

After restarting, I keep getting this message saying "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change may be the cause.", and prompting me to either choose Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally.
However, neither the keyboard or mouse (separate, but both wired USB) are functioning for me to choose anything, so after 30 seconds, Startup Repair is chosen and I am faced with another prompt that I cannot respond to.  I've even tried using a USB-PS/2 adapter, thinking that the USB devices have not been activated yet.
So I am indefinitely stuck on the Startup Repair screen...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
