Edit build-in reports and distribute with solution RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I installed SQL BIDS and the CRM add-in and want to make some minor changes in the default CRM reports.  Using the CRM interface I'm unable to download an existing report (rdl file), so I looked in the SQL Reporting Services Manager for reports. I found them in the SHARED folder but I don't think they are localized and have a strange name.

    1033{2DCB0A2C-566D-4554-8693-9411E5A4CC63}.rdl

I want to edit the existing report query and distribute the modified report using a solution. If I install this solution in an organisation, I want the default report being overridden with my custom one.

    Will this work?

    1. Export the RDL from the Shared folder in SQL report manager
    2. Edit in RDL
    3. Go to my solution in CRM, add existing item and select the current Report
    4. Go to the report properties in CRM and upload the modified file

If not, please advice what would be the right way to do this

Answers

  • The right way would be to download the report from CRM interface.

    Edit the report using BIDS

Upload the new report using CRM interface.

Adding the report in your solution

    Exporting the solution.

What is the error you receive when trying to download the report?

I do not get an error, I asked the question *before* doing something and messing up :-)

If I export from report manager the filename is very strange like for invoice (see above)

How can I export the report from the CRM interface?
