Office 2003 WGA Failure. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am the IT Administrator for a multinational company and today after an WGA update, one of my users is reporting that his Office 2003 application is reporting that the VLK is blocked and invalid.  I am not sure why this is as we have volume licenses and this should be not blocked.   Here is the output from his machine.

  • Hello Norman Moy,

    Please refer to this snippet of the mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->

    Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2

    Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2

    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0

    Office Diagnostics: 7E90FEE8-169-80004005_B4D0AA8B-587-80004005_77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_025D1FF3-230-1

    "Blocked VLK 2" means that the product key used to install the current volume licensing installation of Office 2003 Pro is one of two VERY widely pirated product keys.

    I would suggest having the user run a keyfinder utility (the "Magical Jellybean Keyfinder" is easily found thru a web search and run by average users) and then report back to you with the product key used on the installed Office 2003 Pro.

    My bet is that the installed product key is not your organization's product key.

    Unfortunately, I do not know of a Microsoft-supported method for changing the product key for an installed copy of Office other than, of course, doing an uninstallation and then a fresh installation of the product.

    Please post back and let us know the situation :-)
