Can't Connect to Homegroup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've followed the readme and gotten vail up and running.  However when I try to join it to my existing homegroup it barfs.  With no explanation.  Where can I look for logs or something to give me a hint as to what's going on?

  • For now, you can join Vail to your existing Homegroup from the desktop. You can't do it through the Dashboard at the moment, however. I'm pretty sure this is expected to change in a future build.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Let me add something, it doesn't want to configure my router either, and if I set it to a static IP and forward all the ports to it, it's fine, if I go back to dchp it can't configure the router at all again.

  • It also lists my router IP as unknown and model as unknown.

  • With VAIL preview you can not join an existing HomeGroup.
Configure a HomeGroup from VAIL, then join the client PC's to the VAIL HomeGroup.

  • Hi,
Using a static IP address for the server is the preferred way.

For VAIL to configure your routers port forwarding you need to have UPnP enabled on the router.
If you do have UPnP enabled, please file a report on connect?

(PS - Please try to use only one question per thread?)

  • What router are you using (model/type)?
