  • Hello ssippe,

I think your issue is larger then just an Office Non-Genuine issue.  Given the errors code in your Diagnostic Report, I'm rather suprised your Vista isn't showing as Non-Genuine also.   The problem appears to be that Vista's Licensing Store is corrupt or not working correctly.  Normally this is an easy fix, just follow the below steps try the below set of steps.  The first set will attempt to reset the Store and the second set will recreate it.  Try the first set and if that doesn't work, move on to the next.  Also, below that are steps to restore Office's licensing.

    Reset Store:
    1) Click the option that launches an Internet Browser
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the address field
    3) Find the file cmd.exe
    4) Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
    5) Type: cscript %windir%\System32\slmgr.vbs /ilc %windir%\System32\licensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms
    6) Hit the Enter key
    7) Reboot twice

    Recreate Store:
    1) Return to the cmd windows
    2) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    3) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    4) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    5) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    6) Type: net start slsvc
    7) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    8) Reboot Twice
    9) You may be required to enter the Product Key again and then Activate

    Office Licensing restore:
1)Click Start, click Run, type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data, and then click OK.
    2) Right-click the Opa11.dat file, and then click Delete. <Important Do not delete the opa11.bak file.>
    3) Close the folder.
    4) Start an Office program to start the Office Activation Wizard.

NOTE: I mentioned above that this is usually an easy fix, but I also see the line: "Input Error: There is no script engine for file extension ".vbs"." in your Diagnostic Report, which suggests that your issue may be even larger then I first suspected. If the script engine for file extension ".vbs" is, in fact, missing then a significant portion of Vista is non-functional and I would have no idea how to fix that type of problem.

So, if the above steps don't resolve the issue, my only other recommedations would be to either contact Vista Support at http://support.microsoft.com or reinstall Vista.

    Good Luck,
    Darin MS

  • Thanks Darin but didn't work. I fixed the vbs error by applying a .vbs registry fix which let me run the vbs commands. I re-validated both vista and office successfully but still having the original problem.

Here's my lastest mgadiag.exe output which is a bit different now vbs is working. Any other ideas?

  • Hello ssippe,

What happens when you tried the 'Recreate Store' set of steps?  The reason I ask is because every person that has shown a Diag with the error: "Cached Validation Code: N/A, hr = 0xc004f012" has had it resolved by the below steps.

In addition, what happened when deleting the Opa11.dat file?

(Note: I believe your Office issue is directly related to the Windows issue that I am currently treating.)

    Recreate Store:
    1) Return to the cmd windows
    2) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    3) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    4) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    5) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    6) Type: net start slsvc
    7) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    8) Reboot Twice
    9) You may be required to enter the Product Key again and then Activate

    Thank you,
