Can't reinstall ms money 2006 deluxe cd due to an error RRS feed

  • Question

  • The installed version of money 2006 in my computer with a windows xp os is obviously corrupted. Tried to reinstall the software by first removing the installed version in control panel but got an error message "msmoney 2006/mnycorelfiles/setup/mny.cif" doesn't exist. Can anyone help? Every attempt I make to open the program results in a box that pops up saying "Money is running".

  • Did you just try to install Money 2006 over the other install? See if that works for you.

You will want to read thru http://www.microsoft.com/money/faq.mspx

If you are in the US. and I think that your Money 2006 Deluxe implies US, I suggest you keep a copy of the install file for Money Plus Deluxe Sunset. If you at some time have a problem reinstalling Money 2006, installing Money Plus Deluxe Sunset may work for you.

  • Thank you for your response and suggestion. I've tried several times to reinstall Money 2006 and each time I get a message that says it couldn't close the installed version. Obviously something is preventing the reinstall to overwrite the installed version. Could it be that missing .cif file? Unfortunately, I do not have Money Plus Deluxe Sunset. Any suggestion as to where I may obtain one? Thanks again.

  • toyo,

check your startup folder and make sure Money shortcut isn't there.  another idea, go into Task Manager and close out any occurences of Money.exe

  • http://www.microsoft.com/money/faq.mspx tells where to download Money Plus Sunset versions. Keep a copy of the install file somewhere safe.

It may be able to uninstall your older version, and then you could later reinstall your Money 2006. Money 2006 would let you get quotes until the end of January. If that does not do things as you wish, one of these might help you to get rid of your old install.
