Invalid Office Update RRS feed

  • I had to laugh when I saw this last update.  It's a combination issue between OneCare and Microsoft Update.  OneCare refuses to move out of an Orange state due to missing updates.  When I go out to Microsoft Update, it wants me to apply Office 2003 SP3.  There's only one slight problem.  I'm not running Office 2003, I'm running Office 2007 and its the only version of Office that has ever been on this machine.  I know there isn't anything that I can do about the stupidity within Microsoft Update.  Is there a way to get OneCare to ignore this update as completely invalid?

  • Does hiding the update help? In Vista open Windows Update, right click the unwanted update, select "Hide this update". Reboot. In Windows XP open Windows Update select Express Scan, when the unwanted update appears expand it and check the box that says "Do not show me this update again". Reboot.

  • Do you possibly have any Office 2003 application on the PC? Perhaps Project or Visio, for example?

And is this the 2.0 beta of 1.6 released version of OneCare?
