Suddenly getting "This copy of Windows Is not genuine" Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Starting this last weekend, I have starting getting the "This copy of Windows Is not genuine" Error. The copy of Windows 7 Ulitimate on this machine was purchased from the Microsoft Store, and I have re-entered the key just to be sure.

I have the "Genuine" Logo on System Properties screen, and Windows activated just fine.

Per the recommendations on this thread:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/mse-protect_start/mse-says-im-not-on-genuine-windows-but-windows/0118b935-db14-4260-b8d4-f22ef40e5f1e

I have downloaded and run the MGA Diag Tool:

  • It sounds as if you've been afflicted by the recent botched update from MS...

    What AV are you using?

Please disable real-time scanning/protection and reboot

If the notification has disappeared, re-enable real-time scanning and reboot again

If the notification is still present, first check whether the real-time scanning is still switched off If so, then re-enable it and post the result.

If it's turned itself back on then tell me or try again using a different disable option.

    post your results.
