Not-genuine, but I have an official code! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had an illegal copy of MS-office 2007 (sorry...), but I bought a legal one now. It was not bought in a shop, but through my husbands school, which sells LEGAL copies. So I uninstalled the illegal one, and installed the legal one. But it still says it's not correct. Please, tell me if I had to change something in the register after uninstalling? That's no problem, but please tell me.
I have windows VISTA home edition, and msoffice 2007 enterprise.
It is so frustrating, buying a genuine edition, and still get those annoying stuff on my screen.
In your answer, please use "normal" English, I'm Dutch....

  • Hi Mireille_Dutch,

The Non-Genuine Notifier doesn't detect when a new Office is installed, it just checks every now and then to see what the currently installed Office's Genuine Status is and if it's non-genuine, it pops up the notification.

So, when the Non-Genuine Notice comes up, click the 'Learn More Online' link.  This should force the Non-Genuine Notifier to recheck the Office's Genuine Status.  Otherwise, the Notifier would do a recheck, on it's own, in about 7 days or so and will update to the new Office's Genuine status.

If that doesn't work, follow Dan directions and post a Diagnostic Report so we can diagnose the problem.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
