  • Question

  • I have an illegal copy of Microsoft Office 2007 installed on my system using Windows XP. Now that it has been identified as not genuine, I have purchased a new version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 to replace it. However, after installing the new version, Outlook 2007 is still identified as not genuine. How do I resolve this issue?

  • Hello DLC7350,

    Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 103 Blocked VLK
    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 103 Blocked VLK
    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: B4D0AA8B-604-645_025D1FF3-230-1

    The current installation of Office, Office Enterprise 2007, is reporting as a nongenuine installation of a Volume Licensing edition of Office Enterprise, and that installation was done with a blocked volume licensing key.

    If the current installation of Office is the one that you think is supposed to be Office Professional 2007, then the current installation is a counterfeit copy of Office.

    You wrote, "However, after installing the new version, Outlook 2007 is still identified as not genuine."  This tells me that the installation of Office now on the computer is the one that you purchased and installed to take the place of the illegal copy previously installed.  Unfortunately, if that is the case, the replacement you bought is also a nongenuine copy of Office.

  • Hello iambman1,

    Your installation of Office will get a new menu item that when clicked will give you information about Getting Genuine, and you will see occasional "nag screens" about Getting Genuine.  You will of course not lose any program functionality and not one byte of data will be lost.

    Sometimes with Office XP and to a lesser extent Office 2003, the nongenuine messages are a symptom of a problem with the License File of that installation of Office.  The license file is corrupted for some reason, even though the installation of Office is still genuine, and that corruption causes the OGA Notifier to display the nongenuine messages.
