Is Bringing on Top Allowed? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Sometimes the questions I ask move to later pages unanswered because of newer queries and replies. In that scenario, can I bring my posts on top by replying to it.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • That falls in the annoying category too, it usually buys you a lashing from a contributor, telling you to be patient.  It rarely works anyway, consider editing your post instead and making the question clearer.

  • Hans:

The trouble is, editing a post does not bring it to the top. Which it should, IMHO.

Or at least there should be a Most Recent Activity option, which would include editing, marking, proposing, voting, everything.

  • David,

I'm not with you on this one.

I had a guy who used to edit his posts all the time (in an earlier version of the software) just to get them moved up the list. Half the time he added a single space ...

This was / IS more annoying even than a reply because at least it's a simple matter to delete a reply that's there only to bump a post up, but with an edit used for moving up you have no such option.

I'm with Hans. Annoying / Lashing / Telling be patient /  (+ my own) Delete

Your other suggestions for moving a post up are equally flawed and will be used by the same kind of (annoying) people.

OK, then make it an optional sorting criterion. Of course this will not help the OP (unless everyone uses this option).
