Overwrites - why so many RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using SyncToy V2.1.0.0 and backup in echo mode.

I have computers in two different households (NY and FL) and only travel with an external hard drive.  When I return from one place to another, I use SyncToy to move the files made in one location to the hard drive of the files in the second location.  This way I keep both hard drives synched with the same files.  Lately when I return and do a SyncToy run, I will get perhaps 1000 new files but sometimes as much as 100,000 overwrite files.  This is impossible as the files never changed.  How can I stop this from happening.  I will not overwrite 100,000 files so I find myself manually synching my computer with the external hard drive.  Tedious and inefficient.  Help - how to stop these unnecessary overwrites.
