  • Question

  • Windows up-date failed and could not pass validation. I also went to microsoft.com genuine and ran the validation which also did not work.

    Can you follow these steps:

    1. Start Internet Explorer.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Manage Add-ons.
    3. Confirm the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool add-on is displayed and is enabled.
    4. If disabled, select the appropriate add-on and click Enable, then click OK.
    5. Go to the Windows Update web site again to ensure that the validation process completes successfully.

    To help me understand the issue further can you please follow the steps below?

    1. Download and run the WGA Diagnostic Tool  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy" at the bottom right of the window. Paste the results into your forum response by starting a new post/thread and holding down "CTRL" and clicking "V" while still having "CTRL" held.

    Thanks for the quick reply. Just to verify, you went to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicked validate and it did nothing? if that is the case, please go to www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag and run the test there and let us know what the result is.

  • After going to microsoft.com/genuine/diag we pass the first 4 tests, but not the 5th one.  The fifth line of the test results which failed were labeled as follows:
