Backup WHS to Networked Machine (Reverse Backup) Question RRS feed

  • Question

  • I use my WHS for a centralized "whole house" file server. Does anyone know how I can actually set a backup to back-up data from the WHS server onto my local machine? Here's why I ask. I use Mozy for an unlimited online backup account. I think most would agree having an offsite backup is a good move, which is why I have the Mozy unlimited account. Unfortunately, Mozy doesn't work directly with WHS, so I want to backup the WHS files to a local machine, where I'm running Mozy. Then, I would run the backup from the local machine onto Mozy's servers. I'd like to do the backup infrequently (say monthly). Anyone have any suggestions other than copying/pasting all the folders from my WHS directories onto my local machine? Thanks in advance!

  • You can set up e.g. a scheduled task running robocopy to copy the contents of your shares to other storage, including storage on other computers.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
