WHS Connector

Question
-
Hello everyone, my question is related to the connector.
I Have WHS installed and I'm trying to connect other computers(xp all of them) with the connector app but so far two computers have the app installed.
I created the accounts directly on the server and then installed the connector on the computers but after joining the first one the second one is not loggin in if I don't use password from the first one even the password hint shows the same on the second computer, is this a normal behavior?
Help appreciated

Hi,
where do you try to login?
If you mean the console - yes, this is limited to the console password (=administrator password), since the stuff you can do there is administrative stuff on the server. A normal user should have no need to use WHS console, and for restore operations the home server administrator should be present.
As said before, the user accounts are controlling the access to shared folders on server and the Remote access possibilities of the user.

The console is really intended for the administrator's use, yes. However, you need to install the connector (which includes an easy way to start the console) on every computer that needs to participate in the Windows Home Server backup and user scheme.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Marked as answer by ifache Friday, January 30, 2009 6:22 PM

Hi,
Have you tried deleting these manually created existing accounts? The normal way is to install the Connector software on a Client, this will then automatically create the account on the server. After this is complete, you can then set the appropriate permissions for that created account if you want to. In general, the only accounts created manually, are ones for example for third parties to access your server from outside over the internet.

Hi,
the connector software has not too much to do with the user accounts. These are only for controlling access to the shares and for Remote Access.
For the installation of the connector software, which is necessary for backup and provides some interfaces for the Windows Home Server control, you need the console password.Did you install the Connector via the download from your server (http://server)?

Thanks for the responses, I'll try to respond both answer in this post.
I did delete both accounts on the server and uninstall the software on both computers then I reinstalled the connector using the cd that came with the home server software in one of the computers, everything was fine the server notify me to upgrade the connector did that, it also notify me to create the account, here is were maybe I messed up because the only way was login in with the admin password, I created the account manually then log off the console then it asked me to update the password since the account on the computer and the one on the server didn't match,I kept the one on the server everything still fine until I try to log in again with the new password ....wrong password, I try to log in with the old computer password...wrong password the only way was login in with admin password, the account was there on the server....so what else should I be looking at?.

Sorry for my ignorance but what you are saying is that the console is only for admin use?.
I was trying to install this console on every computer thinking that every user should have it.
In this case is there anything I can do for the other users to see shared folders beside the share that the connector puts on the desktop within the intranet?
