CRM 4.0 On-premise Rollups (Client and Server on different versions?) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am upgrading a client's on-premise deployment of CRM 4.0 from Rollup 12 to Rollup 15 (or probably now 16) and am curious as to the compatibilities (and backward compatibilities) of the Client and Server Rollups.
It will be difficult for me to update both the server(s) and the clients on the same day. So, which should I do first?

Are the Outlook Client rollups backward compatible (for the most part)? If I install the Rollup 16 Client, should it still function as expected when the serrer is at Rollup 12?
And the opposite; If I update the Servers to Rollup 16, and the clients are at Rollup 12 will that be a problem?

I expect that all machines will be updated in a matter of days, and we are not performing the Rollups to fix any problems.

    Does anyone have any feedback?

  • Microsoft suggest that Server and Client should be on the same Update Rollup but it's very often that they have different UR.

It's fully supported and tested in several environments.

The only one important thing is that Client and Server should be above UR7.
