  • Question

  • I've seen a number of really off topic questions pop up in the CLR forum, moved there from Where's The Forum by moderators I've never heard of before.  Their signature line contains this:

Tier 2 Application Support Server and Tools Online Engineering Live Services Team

    Samples of these threads:

I know Where's The Forum is a problem, this is *not* the way to solve it.

  • I haven't suffered wrong moves yet (maybe it's easier to decide if a question is a SharePoint one or not than with yours) but I have seen that the Moderator movers there have Chinese names.

This fits well with the theory that they are Shanghai-based Microsoft support people (note that I didn't write Microsoft employees).

I actually pity them. That forum gets questions on just about everything. Could you move even half of them to their correct forums ? I know i couldn't.

  • Hi Hans and Mike

There is a new team that reports up to me that will be monitoring several of the Server and Tools Online Forums and the team is doing their best with the resources at hand to address customer issues.  As this is a new team, there may be some growing pains associated with learning the forums.

If you have any problems with these responses, please contact me directly at learnmgr@microsoft.com (or you can email me directly if you have my direct email account) and I'll be happy to discuss with you further but please do not publicly criticize the team for their support efforts.

    Thanks!

(As this was addressed  personally to both of us)

The first thing is that I didn't criticise your employees here.

I find it very hard to see this

"I actually pity them. That forum gets questions on just about everything. Could you move even half of them to their correct forums ? I know i couldn't."

    as a criticism.

Secondly, my "Chinese support people" was obviously incorrect as I have recently seen other names which while seemingly Asian aren't I suspect Chinese.

Thirdly, whereas some of the posts from the support people there do say that technical questions are not what this forum is for before going on to suggest other more suitable forums, some of the posts just suggest more suitable forums. I would think that it would be best to ALWAYS say that this is the wrong forum for technical questions first.

(That was not a criticism either. It was a suggestion)

No problem Mike.  I'm sorry to have included you in my response but I was trying to respond to both just to let you all know who the team was, what they were doing, etc.

We have received criticism from other moderators in a different forum so I want to be sure that it is stopped rather quickly because as you mention, being a moderator of that particular forum is not easy and there will be some growing pains.  I will be reaching out to all moderator's soon to help address some of the questions that my team can't answer.

As far as your suggestion goes, can you send me a link of a sample post that you are referring to so I can use it as an example?

Thanks again for the support and I do apologize if you felt I was including you on my criticism comment.  I actually just saw an email from earlier today in which you mentioned the forum was moving along nicely.

Thanks for the help and support!

    Alicia
