  • Hi, Angel2903.

Congratulations on beginning your quest for becoming Microsoft certified!

First off, you will need to identify what type of certification you are seeking. For example, are you interested in network and server management? Are you interested in a specific Windows product? Are you interested in programming? Once you identify your interest, you can determine what kind of certification you should pursue.

Microsoft offers two (2) types of certifications:

    1. Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certifications are for people in school or just out of school and are beginning their computer career.
    2. MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE certifications are for experienced computer professionals with tougher exams.

Microsoft recommends that students and beginners pass one or more related MTA exam before going for the professional certifications. However, the decision is yours.

You can learn about the different MTA certifications here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mta-certification.aspx

For network and server administrators, they usually earn their MCSA first as a "stepping stone" to the big MCSE certification title.

You can learn about the MCSA titles and the required exams here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsa-certification.aspx

You can learn about the MCSE titles and the required exams here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcse-certification.aspx

For software developers (programmers), they can earn their MCSD certification by passing exams defined here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsd-certification.aspx

Once you are ready to take an exam, you can register for it online. The test provider's website will tell you all the possible locations in Florida where you can take the exam.

If you are a student and you want to take a MTA exam, you can register through Certiport, here:
    http://www.certiport.com/mta

Alternately, you can register online for any of the Microsoft exams (including MTA exams) at:
    http://register.prometric.com

While preparing for any of the exams, be sure to try the free training at:
    http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com

As well, you may want to consider purchasing a practice test exam at http://www.measureup.com , http://www.transcender.com, or http://www.selftestsoftware.com

    Good luck!

    Best wishes, Davin Mickelson
