(urgent) windows Vista Home Premium can't activiate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought from a large and reputable store in Munich a copy of the Vista Home Premium but could not acitvate on-line. Following the instructions, the said Diagnostic Report is following this message. I notice that the product key number in the report is different from the key number that on the DVD case.

My laptop is a IBM T61,which was pre-loaded with Bunsiness Vista. For reasons unknow, that system was unstable and finally collapsed.  I could not recover the system by the ThinkVantage and was told that this was because I partioned the hardware before.  As foreigner in Germany, who is in bad need of computer for doing business, I resigned to the this bad situation and buy the Vista Home Premium.  I know little Germany, it is not possible for me to activate via telephone. Oh. God!

By the way, is it possible that I upgrade the Home Premium Vista back to my former Business Vista. I sitll possess the valid product key for that. It is right on the back of my Laptop.

Looking forward to reply! Ernesly and urgently.

    Hello Wade He,

Users are allowed to install Vista without a Product Key (known as a Keyless Install). When a user does a Keyless Install, Vista automaticly uses it's own Default Product Key.  Default Product Keys Can Not be Activated and only allow the user to use Vista for a 30 day Trial Period. Vista does this so people can try out Vista without having to buy it. If the user wishes to continue using Vista, they must enter a Valid Product Key.

The Product Key currently being used in your Vista is the Vista Default Product Key for Vista Home Premium. Below you can see the last 5 digits for all Vista Default Product Keys:

Default Product Keys (used for Keyless installs)

    • Business - MRW4W
    • BusinessN - QXX44
    • HomeBasic - 3V4VD
    • HomeBasicN - GFJBT
    • HomePremium - 76PKF
    • Ultimate - RP8F7

To continue to use your Vista, you must enter a valid Vista Home Premium Product Key. To do this:

    Click the "Start" button

    Right-click "Computer"

Click "Change Product Key" (located in the lower right hand corner of the window)

Enter the valid Vista Home Premium Product Key found in the Vista Home Premium Retail Box.

If there is no product key listed in your Vista Home Premium Retail Box or if you did not get a Vista Home Premium Retail Box, please contact the person or company that sold you this software and demand the Genuine Microsoft Software, that you paided for. Or at the very least, a refund.

Also, if you believe that the person or company, that sold you this software, meant to sell you Non-Genuine Microsoft software, then I encourage you to submit a Piracy Report against that person or company at http://microsoft.com/piracy

    Thank you,

    Darin Smith

p.s.  To use the OEM Vista Business key, you would need a Windows Restore disk for Vista Business from Intel and that Vista Business could only be used on the computer it originaly came pre-installed on.
