Product key for new Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 disk is ignored. Keeps saying to enter product key even though it's valid. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I transferred all software from old computer to new Inspiron One, including Microsoft Office 2003, but can't open/read my old Word documents. I bought a new version with disk and product key of 2003 but get constant error messages when trying to uninstall the non-working version of 2003 on computer. I just did a "Fix It" uninstall vs. from control panel and it appeared to be successful. The installation of my new 2003 seemed to be going fine, but when it asked for product key and I entered it, I just kept getting the command to enter the product key. It didn't say it is invalid or anything else. It ignored my key, which is valid and correctly typed. Again, this is a brand-new, formerly sealed version of 2003 with the product key printed on the case. There is at least one other software problem: Error message trying to use iTunes says can't read and must reinstall. Haven't tried other programs, but can get online. Ideas? Thanks. millermail
