CRM 4.0 new deployment datbase file locations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am planning to change the database file locations in my server from the default location to a new disc. Can I do it from Sql Management Studio using detach/attach or I have to delete the organization and then import it back?

The second method would take more time and that is why I want to use the first one.

  • I think you can do it entirely in SQL Management Studio using detach then attach. Obviously you'll need to schedule downtime with your users whilst you do this.

I don't think that CRM cares at all where the actual database files are located.

  • You can change a file location without any problem unless you will not change name of DB and rights to it.
