Issue with IFD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey all -

We went through a 4.0 IFD install as outlined in the IG.  When trying to connect to the CRM site using the external URL, IE comes back with "Page cannot be displayed".  Here is how our config looks:

    - 1 server (CRM, SQL, Exchange. DNS, DC are all on this server)

    - CRM was configured as a new web site (http://server01:5555)

    - The internal domain is abc.local

    - Using http://abc.com:5555 does not work (IE cannot display the page)

As I mentioned, we followed the instructions of the IG so I'm curious whats wrong.  Is there something in the way we have the server configured that is incompatible?

On another note, I tried re-installing CRM without the IFD flags, which made the http://abc.com:5555/OrgName URL work correctly.  However, the Outlook client returns a 401 Unauthorized error.

This shouldn't be this confusing!!  Any help is appreciated!

  • Hi,

OC works with IFD. Please enable Tracing and then you will be able to get exact error details. Most probably, this is a IFD config issue.

  • Dear, have a look on following it will help you.

FYI, the Outlook client works on the local network, just not off premise.

  • Yes - those are the documents I used to set this up.  However, it is not working.

Also - are you saying the CRM Outlook client doesn't work with IFD?  That's news to me.

  • OC work on the IFD.

the url for the OC to connect should be http://domain.com/

it will connect to the discovery service and list the available orgs available to your account. If only 1 it will skip this step.

  • try http://orgname.abc.com:5555/ on the ifd side. your ifd web domain should be set to abc.com.

You will need a dns entry.

orgname for the ifd url doesn't need to be case sensitive.

if you have more than one org each will need an entry like that and with the OC once you pick an org to associate to it will try to connect with orgname.domain.tld, based on your ifd settings.

  • Thanks for the replies folks.  Nothing seems to get it working though.  I've logged a support case with MS because I'm sure I followed each step in the IG correctly.  It's probably something screwy with my environment.

Also - to follow up on a previous poster's comment:   Is it true that the Outlook client is NOT supposed to work over IFD?
