When i enter my product key I am told that error 0x044E033 took place. I have tried this a couple of times and always get the same error. I ran a diagnostics test and here are the results.

The Key in use is an Asus OEM_SLP key - The computer appears to also be an Asus one, built in 2008.However, the OS is unable for some reason to see the BIOS SLIC table that should be present in order to activate the system internally. This can happen for a number of reasons - the most common one being that you may have upgraded the BIOS with a non-compliant version. If that's the case, the contact Asus, and see it they have a suitable compliant BIOS to repair the damage - if not then you will have to change the Key in use to the COA_SLP Key on your COA sticker on the machine's case - To do so, click on the Start button, and then right-click on Computer..... select Properties from the menu.Scroll down to the bottom of the System Properties page, and click on the Change Product Key link there - follow the instruction, but choose to Activate by Phone when given the option.

I have not had the time to get a hold of ASUS yet but was going to try the code from my machines coa sticker. Problem is that when i go to change product key there is no choice for Activate by phone. The only options are Buy a new product key online, type a different product key, or contact ASUSTek Computer Inc. to help resolve problem.Wednesday, June 22, 2011 4:59 AM
