Physical drive has OS partition & data partition & I want the data parition removed... RRS feed

  • Question

  • My WHS is built on a HP ML350 G4 and I have a pair of 72.8 GIG's SCSI in RAID1 where WHS built two partitions upon installation: OS partition and data partiton.  This is normal installation SOP.  Then I added four 2TB SATA drives on another controller for a majority of the data storage.  In the WHS "Server Storage" tab I can see the data partition on the 72.8 GIG RAID as well as the other drives.  Can I remove/disomount the data partiton on the 72.8 GIG RAID1 drives without also removing my OS?  I would like my WHS OS not to share a physical SCSI drive with my data.  The option to remove the data partition is grayed out and not selectable.

  • It's not possible to remove the primary DATA partition from the system drive, I'm afraid.

This will, however, be possible in the next version of Windows Home Server.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
