Low disk space on one drive while other drives empty RRS feed

    1. Move everything off the disk.
    2. Clean the disk completely, remove all partitions, etc.
    3. Repartition using GPT, and then create one large NTFS partition that uses everything.
    4. Move your client backup database back onto the disk.

    This.

While you can create a spanned volume > 2 TB using a RAID HBA or even Windows dynamic disks, you will then be unable to back up that volume using the server backup functionality.

  • Thanks Ken.  I'm a bit confused since WHS took my 3GB drive and split it into 2 drives.  If we span the volumes, WHS will really see it as one bigger drive?  It seems like http://stablebit.com/DrivePool might do the job and be easier than my manually fiddling with Raid or dynamic disks.

I'm not concerned about server backup as I'm not putting anything critical on the shares and I've got offsite backup handled separately so I really just need Client Backup to work.
