Mediation Server service could not be started. RRS feed

  • I have set up an OCS standard edition install and it works fine.

    I am trying to set up a mediation server but I cannot get it to start

    I get the following error message on start-up

     

    Mediation Server service could not be started.

    Exception: System.Exception: MediationServer Core Initialize Error. ---> System.Exception: The connection manager was unable to listen using the address and port supplied.
    at Microsoft.RTC.MediationServerCore.ProxyGatewayListener.CreateProxyGatewayListener(Configuration config, MediationCallCollection mediationCallCollection, RtpPlatform platform, ListeningAddressData addressData)
    at Microsoft.RTC.MediationServerCore.Core.Initialize()
    --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
    at Microsoft.RTC.MediationServerCore.Core.Initialize()
    at Microsoft.RTC.MediationServerCore.Server.OnStart()
    Cause: Internal error or a previous failure.
    Resolution:
    Examine the details of this event log entry and any other previous failures to determine the potential cause.

     

    Any Ideas ?

  • It seams that some ports are allready taken

    Are you installing the Mediation server on a completely new server? Or cohosting with other roles?

  • That was it !
    I had a recording software that was running a SIP proxy on port 5060.
    I ran tcpview to find the culprit and i killed the service.
