The file cannot be accessed by the system from old WHS on new winxp

Question

When my WHS box started rebooting every 2h i wanted to migrate to a winXP box.So i installed winxp and i see all the content on the drives. But i get duplicates on multiple drives and on 1 of the dup drives i get "The file cannot be accessed by the system.".So the files dont exist but i see them in explorer. I checked the properties of one of the drives and i got 2,26TB on a 500GB drive. Is there an easy way to remove all the files that do not exist or do i need to remove them by hand?Saturday, July 11, 2009 3:47 PM

FYI: If you had Duplication enabled on a share, you will see two copies of each file that was in that share (one copy on each drive.)

I did not have Duplication enabled due to insufficient drive space
what is located in [Drive]:\Shares? it may be the folder im looking in...
Those are "tombstones", not actual files. The actual files are located elsewhere. Please see the link Chris Cupler pointed to for details.- Proposed as answer by kariya21Moderator Saturday, July 11, 2009 5:45 PM
