trial version of Office 2007??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I ran a diagnostic on my system and the report is at the end of this message. I received a couple of emails telling me that my Office 2007 trial was soon over. I don't know why. This is supposed to be a full version of Office 2007 Professional. The report looks like it is genuine? what is the reason for the emails?

    thanks

  • Hello jamsccys,

Your mgadiag report is showing that you have a genuine perpetually licensed installation of Office Professional 2007 on your computer.

I was asking how you aquired Offie because it is possible to download a trial of Office from the Microsoft site, which requires giving them your email address, but then immediately activating the downloaded trial of Office with a full retail product key.  (This is a handy feature for those buying those little netbook computers because they're so small they usually don't have optical drives.)

If you did the above, the MS system would think you were downloading for Trial purposes and the  emails are just there to remind you that the Trial is ending soon.  This system would not know that you had directly activated the Trial right to a perpertual license and skipped the Trial period.

Another possibility is that someone unknown to you entered your email address when they downloaded a trial.

  • Hi Dan,

What does the diagnostic test for Office mean when it says "100 Genuine"? I saw other posts where "102" came up and it was just for a trial version. Is there some mistake that I am getting emails about the trial being almost over?

    thanks
