External access to CRM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

Just installed CRM on a Windows SBS Server 2003, IIS port 5555. Everything works fine internally but not externally. We have forwarded port 5555 TCP on our hardware firewall to our relevant server, and a port scan shows it as being open. Doing a netstat -a on the server, port 5555 shows as 2 entries, one saying established and one saying 'TIME_WAIT'.

Anyone else know of any problems getting external access to CRM 3?

    Cheers

  • Sounds like a firewall issue.  You may want to update your firmware on the router.  It would also be good practice to configure SSL for the CRM site using another port number.  A simple SelfSSL cert generated from the IIS resource CD will work.  That way your Active Directory usernames and passwords will not be available to network scanners.

  • There are options in CRM implementation guide regarding to access externally.

You need to set this using IIS and anonymous access , other users should be authentication. Regarding SSL if you had setup ssl https during installation - or use upgradation to do that.

Your firewall should be enable to access from specific computer, use IPCOnfig or PING commands to access the computer.

if your computer is accessing server, then it should access the CRM only if you had setup in activie directory user and set permissions.

I suggest to go for implementation guide.
