  • I am using robocopy to basically mirror a folder on a server to one on my personal PC ( both on the same network ).  Using the robocopy GUI I am able to get it working perfectly, however I want this to monitor the source folder on the server 24/7 so when the server gets restarted I have to open the GUI again and do it all over.  I generated the scripts with the GUI but when I run the script a "DOS" window opens and stays open ( everything works still ) but I don't need nor want that window open and when I close the window, it stops working.  I want to be able to run that script "In the backgound" just like when I run something through the GUI and have it automatically start if the server if rebooted.  I have tried creating a shortcut to the batch or cmd file that is generated with the GUI in the startup folder, without success of course.  Can someone please help me figure out how to get the script file to run just like using the GUI to where it runs in the background with no windows?  Then maybe help me tackle getting it to run on boot up?

  • This is the Windows Home Server forum; you might want to see if you can find a more appropriate place to ask about robocopy. That said, you'll find a robocopy command line reference with some hints here, and a Google search will tell you more about the uses (and abuses) of the tool than you ever wanted to know.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Sorry about posting in the wrong spot, I saw a post in here about robocopy so I thought it was the appropriate place.  I will look elsewhere, thanks.
