Group Policy - The reference account is currently locked out & may not be logged into RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

Lot of our domain users are getting the above error.

All this users are running Windows 7 OS.

Our Domain Controller is running on Windows Server 2008 Std R2.

But when they disconnect themselves from LAN or Wireless they are able to login.

Is this error related to active directory group policy or  OS related issue?

  • But when they disconnect themselves from LAN or Wireless they are able to login.

Thats because they are using cached logins also I don't think this is the correct forum for it either.

I will give you a tip look for a tool called lockoutstatus.exe run this against your user that is locking out, or else check the domain controllers security event logs look for the failed authentications against the timestamp provided via lockoutstatus.exe and you should see either a hostname/ip of the system that is locking them out. log into that system and check for sessions that are disconnected ect.

If they have mounted shares ect bad passwords on the shares ect will cause this either.
