I am sorry to hear about the problem your currently experiencing. I can see right away what the issue is with Windows XP
Professional and why it is not passing validation. Unfortunately, the product key used to install the operating system is a
Volume License Key (VLK) that has been blocked per the request of the legal VLK holder. As a rule, VL editions of either an
Operating System and/or Office should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VL
editions for flexibility in installing many computers. Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP and versions of MS Office are Upgrade
licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.
This is why you were seeing the "Software Counterfeiting" messages on your computer, because the current installation of WindowsXP Pro is an unauthorized installation. In any case, please uninstall the non-genuine installation of the operating system to
alleviate any complications which may arise from the non-genuine status of your system. As a customer there are options available
to you for a resolution. For details on the ways to “Get Genuine”, see the web page that outlined your validation failure details
or http://www.microsoft.com/genuine. It will provide all of the possible steps which you can take.
First, if this comes as a total surprise to you, please visit the retailer where you purchased the computer or operating systemand let them know the operating system is a counterfeit copy. Please print a copy of the diagnostic report so you may show them
proof for the blocked PID status. Demand they immediately reimburse you and/or provide a Genuine Copy which was originally paid
for. Curious was your computer turned in for repairs/upgrades and was the hard drive reformatted? In any case, please uninstall
the non-genuine installation to alleviate any complications.
Again, I am sorry to hear about your situation. Please be sure to backup or otherwise offload any data from the hard diskbecause a clean installation or reimaging will destroy all personal user data on the hard drive. Please don't hesitate re-posting
if you need further assistance.
Thank you

Veronica001,
Please follow these steps for assistance:
Step 1 is to run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response in this thread.
Step 2 is to look on the computer or with the materials you received with the computer or with your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). If you have one, tell us about the COA. Tell us:
1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center, or another version of Windows?
2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
Not sure what to look for? See this page for reference: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/en/coa.mspx

Loubnaaaa,
Right now, your Dell OptiPlex computer has a Volume Licensing edition of XP Pro installed (Line 8), and that installation was done with a now-blocked Volume Licensing Key (VLK) (Line 2). VLKs are blocked by Microsoft at the request of the original keyholder for such reasons as the key was lost, stolen, compromised, misused, or expired. Also, MS may have blocked the key if it notices a pattern of misuse, ie, more installations of XP using that key than authorized.
If you search the forum for the part of the VLK reported by the mgadiag utility, 4RHJG-83M4Y-7X9GW, you will see that it is a very "popular" VLK with at least three dozen other posters having submitted reports with that same blocked VLK.
As a rule, VL editions of XP should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and gov'ts normally use VL editions for flexibility in installing many computers. Aslo, a Volume License for XP is an upgrade license ONLY and cannot be used as the original license on a new computer.
This is why you were seeing the "software counterfeiting" messages on your computer, because the current installation of XP is an unauthorized installation.
More bad news: Your Office 2003 Pro installation is showing as Nongenuine (Office status=114 means nongenuine). If this comes as a surprise to you, please go back to where you purchased the installed copy of Office and let them know that it is a counterfeit copy and that you demand the genuine copy that you paid for, or a refund. In any case, please uninstall the nongenuine installation of Office 2003 as soon as possible.
Luckily, the solution to your problem is simple. Use the recovery solution supplied by Dell to replace the nongenuine volume installation of XP Pro with the genuine OEM installation of Windows XP. If the computer came with XP Pro from Dell, you can try to use the Product Key Updater utility to "genuine-ize" the current nongenuine installation of XP Pro.
Be sure to back up and offload your data before you do this because typically the recovery process destroys all data on the hard disk. If the computer does not have Dell PC Restore by Symantec installed, your other option is to use the Dell OS Reinstallation CD. If you do not have the Reinstallation CD supplied by Dell, you can order the CD for many Dell models directly from Dell for a reasonably modest fee, usually around $15. If they cannot help you, try http://www.restoredisks.com

Please contact Dell Computers thru their website @ http://search.dell.com/index.aspx?s=gen&c=us&l=en&ec=k&ira=False&cat=sup&advsrch=Falsehttp://www.supportforyourpc.com/tools/get_article.asp?aid=1293. The Technical Support number is 1-800- 624-9896. Explain your situation (such as I misplaced the Recovery CD/DVD media) and establish a service request (SR) for Reinstallation Recovery media Software. The CS agent should be able to assist with your request and/or questions.
Newer Dells come with a utility that uses a hidden partition on the hard disk drive to reimage the user partition in about 10-15 minutes, which is a lot faster than doing a clean installation from the Dell OS Reinstallation CD. This will only work if you haven’t previously attempted re-formatting or performed any other work on the hard drive. Depending upon when you purchased your Dell, the program is called "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" or "Norton Ghost".
