I have a paid subscription, but..... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Twice in about a year I've resorted to complete recovery of my pc - to factory settings.  The first time I was still in my 90 day trial, but upon completion of the recovery my WLOC icon was red saying I should subscribe which I did.  No real problem there.  However, I was asked to reset my live id, and therein started the mess my pc is in.  After completing the second recovery, the only option I had was to download another trial which asked me to activate again.  It would be approximately 4-5 months before a year's subscription was over but  I thought WLOC is worth it.  I paid for another year's subscription.  Just recently I lost my audio.  I tried troubleshooting this problem, but got nowhere.  My boyfriend said just do another recovery and the audio should come back.  Well, we're definitely both stupid because WLOC is asking to activate again and I still don't have my audio.  Can anyone help me?

  • I can't help with the audio issue - I suggest contacting the PC maker or checking out the newsgroups for that issue

I can help with the OneCare activation problem:

If you have an active subscription, which is what was created when you activated on the first computer, you need to use the same LiveID on the subsequent activations. If you are arriving at a screen to purchase or provide a token, you are likely not using the same LiveID as the subscription ID.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.
