CRM 4 - send document as attachment, no "track in crm"

Question
-
Wow - I can't believe I have never noticed this before.
When sending a document as an attachment (from inside the document - not from outlook and attaching it), there is no opportunity to track in CRM. Even if Outlook is already open.
Why is this? Can a change be made to allow for tracking in CRM?
I have tried to add the "track in crm" menu to the toolbar but that doesn't work.
The only way is to close the email and save as draft. Reopening it allows for track in crm.
Bug? As designed?

They would need to develop a custom add-on for Office using VSTO.But I'm not sure if it's even possible to develop an add-on that calls the CRM add-on.
Another alternative is to use the E-mail Router for tracking emails rather than relying on the Outlook add-on.

Hi Bill, this is a limitation of Office. When you use the E-mail feature from within an Outlook program it starts a new Outlook email message but no other Outlook add-ins are loaded into the new message form (so you can't track in CRM, for example).
I wouldn't say this is by design exactly, it's just a limitation of Office (presumably for security or performance reasons).

Any thoughts/insight into what our dev team could do to create a workaround?
