    HI,

    Still stuck with both issues...

-chkdsk is still automatically cancelled after installing hotfix update & rebooting

-all updates got installed except SP1...it is not even getting downloaded...bar is stuck at 0% & then it gets failed...error code 8007045D

    plz help

OK – try the CheckSUR tool. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
Note that this tool can take hours to install on a system as it fixes what it can. – do NOT cancel it unless you have good reason, such as an error message!

You have two errors – one of which may be the result of the other.
You have an ‘Access Denied’ error on one of the files critical to SoftwareProtection
Please run the following command in a Command Prompt window -

    ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\sppobjs.dll

Copy and paste the results to your response.
(to copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.)

    Hi,

Plz see the response above as requested.

That looks normal – so we’ll have to look elsewhere for the problem.
First let’s try a general tune-up on the file system
    running CHKDSK and SFC
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
    Select Run as Administrator
    - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type
    CHKDSK C: /R
    and hit the Enter key
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
    Click on the Start button
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
    Select Run as Administrator
    - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

run another MGADiag report, and post the results.

    The problem with CHKDSK:-

KB975778 - The Chkdsk.exe program does not start correctly on a Windows 7-based computer

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975778/en-us

Click on View and request hotfix downloads , and accept the Ts&Cs,  select the platform (x64) and type in your email twice and type in the Captcha and click request hotfix.

After 1 minute you have an email with the link to download the file as a self-extracting ZIP.EXE file. Run the file to extract the update to a convenient place, then double-click on the extracted file to install it.

Install the update and reboot, CHKDSK should work

SFC is a more difficult problem – please upload your C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.log file to your public SkyDrive, and post a link – it may tell us what the problem is.

You appear to have had at least one update failing since at least October last year – please go to Windows Updates History, and list the failing updates. from the past few days, and the error messages associated with them. (I think there’s a fair number of them now – but wouldn’t swear to it, as my knowledge of CBS is limited)

If your History goes back far enough – can you see what Update was failing around October last year? (if any! – I may be reading the report wrong)

AH – then that could be what started the problem.
I need to know the error messages to have much hope of solving the riddle – and you need to get SP1 installed properly.
