Transfer of retail XP Pro license between machines RRS feed

  • Question

  • I understand that I need to remove Windows XP from the old computer by formatting the hard drive, but I also need to transfer files and settings from the old computer.  How long may the same copy of XP exist on the two machines simultaneously?  Are there any special arrangements I need to make to allow this temporarily?

Do not activate the new install until  you have completed the transfer to your satisfaction (this should allow you 30 days to get it right!)
