Can not generate logs file with "Crm Trace Log Viewer" ? pls help RRS feed

  • Hi all,

    I install CRM 4.0 on Windows 2008 Ent R2 with domain controller, I want to run "Crm Trace Log Viewer" but it can not generate log file automatically ? It get error msg on popup.

    Pls help me to find solution to fix it.

  • This is the only way for enable the tracing.

    Just try creating sample text file at "C:\Program File (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\.....\Trace\" folder .

  • Are you able to generate trace file.. if not.. refer this to generate trace http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907490

    there should be some authentication issue this tool..

    I would recommend you to use below tool..

  • Does the logged in user has permissions to create the file in the trace location?

  • Hi all,

    Account that I use is admin domain and admin local permission already.

    I can not generate on other HDD, but just test on default drive path C:\Program File (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\.....\Trace\ is can!

    so sigh ?

    Does anyone can help me to fix and explain for me ? I really want to tracing on other hard drive.

    When you create a trace in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, the TraceDirectory registry key is ignored. For tracing on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server, the trace log file is created in the following folder:

    <var>Drive</var>:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Trace
