Driver causing Windows to fail to go into standby or hibernation mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows Vista Performance Info and Tools indicates that this driver controller these device are causing my HP a6157c desktop to go into standby/hibernation (sleep) slowly.  Actually my PC will not go into these modes at all unless I press the "sleep" key on the kbd, which causes the PC to go into sleep mode only momentarily then it becomes active again.  I manually updated all my drivers recently when I had scratchy sound, but this has standby problem has existed for several months.  It is just recently that I started using Vista Perform Info & Tools.

Name: Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (base)
    Filename: iaStorV.sys
    Pub: Intel
    DeviceS: CD-ROM Drive, Intel(R) 82801 GR/GH SATA RAID Controller

My power options are set for:
Turn off display in 20 minutes
Put the computer to sleep in 45 minutes.

The display option works occasionlly but the the PC one never works.
