Validation Errors - Discrepancy Between Internet Validation and Validation Tool RRS feed

  • Question

  • About two days ago I installed Jade Empire SE and the next day, when I restarted my computer, I noticed many problems. The OS ran incredibly slowly, my anti-virus was no longer being recognized by the Windows Security Center, and when I tried to run Windows Update, or any Windows utility, I got a message about a non-validated Windows install. I was perplexed, since my install was validated long, long ago. I went to the troubleshooting page and tried the recommended steps: ran disk cleanup and downloaded the utility.

The utility listed my install as invalid, so I uninstalled Jade Empire to test if that would validate my install. The tool said it was valid, but the website still won't recognize my install as valid, rendering me unable to download new updates.

My OS still runs incredibly slowly, I can't run Windows utilities like the Welcome Center or Windows Update or access the Control Panel. I'm not sure if it's a validation issue or not, but I'd like to get the validation issue fixed so that I can be able to download updates or utilities when they are available.

    Here's the validation tool readout:

  • Install is now invalid on both the tool and the website. Here's the readout.

  • New behavior:

I left the computer on for a long time and eventually I started getting error messages saying that Aero no longer worked because my install was invalid.

Following a restart, Aero was enabled again and I haven't seen that message since.

  • Could you pleast try phone activating and validating again.

You can start phone activation by typing "slui 4" in a command prompt.

And when you've activated  you can revalidate here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

    Thanks!

  • Running "slui 4" gives me a screen that says there was error 0x80070426, has a link to possible resolution, and also has a link to phone activation which leads me to a Windows Help window that does not contain a phone number or a link to a phone number. What is the activation phone number?

  • Just the phone number for phone activation won't help because you'll need information from the activation window that slui 4 brings up.

Please try this:  open an elevated command prompt (find Command Prompt in the start menu, right-click it and choose "Run as administrator") and type "net start slsvc" (and hit enter), then type "slui 4" (and hit enter).

Let me know if you run into any snags.  Thanks for the error code above; those are always helpful. :)

  • When I run that command I get an error that reads:

    An error has occurred

    Code:

    0xC00000022

    Description:
    [Access Denied]
A process has requested access to an object, but has not been granted those access rights.

Which is odd cause I ran the command prompt as an administrator.
