I lost a lot of points RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

There is something I do not understand. Yesterday I had 73 points for the recognition and today I only have 47. I have been missing points, but I don't see that the same things hhapen to the rest of my teammates  (but they take days without showing up at the forum). Can anyone explain why is that? Do points expire?
Why are my points expiring and others not?

    Thanks in advance.

  • You have 3,179 recognition points right now.  The leader board in the right rail lists answers, not points.  Yes, they expire, only answers you got in the past 30 days are listed.  Your recognition point total and medal count is permanent and can only go up.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but... If someone posts something that gets marked as an answer he gets 2 points for posting plus 10 points for the post being marked as the answer. Now, if someone unmarks said post as being NOT the answer, those 10 points go away and if the post gets deleted, you lose any and all points as well.

At least, that was my understanding of the points system as found here... Specifically the paragraph marked "Can I lose points?

    "Can I lose points?
Yes, you lose points that you gained if the post for which you gained the points is deleted or the post that you created contains an answer that is removed."

  • It happens.  Leaderboards however show answers, not points.

No argument about the leaderboard. That wasn't my quibble..

My issue was regarding this sentence: "Your recognition point total and medal count is permanent and can only go up."

  • Yes, you can loose points if your posts have been deleted or posts that's been unmarked as answer
