Address Book Question RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to input all the extensions, DIDs and mobile numbers for all employees into AD.  I have done a few test and I don't see the numbers appear in Communicator even after a -syncNow.  Does anyone have any pointers on this?  I want everyone to be able to see each others numbers so we can have an easy access phone directory.  Thanks!

  • There are a few more steps required in order to get changes in AD pulled into the OCS Address Book and then downloaded to the clients.  The -SyncNow switch only syncronizes changes between the OCS SQL database and server-side ABS files.  You'll need to start with a -RegenUR switch in order to replicate changes in AD over to OCS's SQL database first, then run -SyncNow again.  Then you typically have to force clients to pick up a new address book if you want to see the changes immediately.

Check out this detailed blog article on how to perform all these steps:

  • Yes, if the number strings are not properly normalized into E.164 format (e.g. +18885551234) then the OC client will not display them.
