virus protection RRS feed

    when in the security protection center, under the Malware Protection envelope, my virus protection is turned off, however, when I click the "Turn On Now" button, nothing occurs...any ideas?

    I'm a little confused by what you mean when you say "...security protection center, under the Malware Protection envelope.."


    Where do you see this in OneCare?


    OneCare will not work properly if there is another anti-malware program on the machine.  In order to use OneCare,

    you will need to remove third party anti-malware programs.


    If you are having issues with a virus infection on your machine and OneCare is not working properly, please run the

    OneCare PC Safety scanner found here until you have anti-malware software installed on your machine.

  • If you are using OneCare, and your OneCare icon is green, but the Windows Security Center reports that your protection is off, your WMI database used by the Security Center is corrupt - it isn't a OneCare problem, since it is green.
