  • When taking a look at the "Event Viewer" system log on my WHS I discovered various printer driver errors in there.  Like the following:
"Driver send to Microsoft OneNote required for printer send to OneNote2007 is unknown"
"Driver Lexmark X1100 series required for printer Lexmark X1100 series is unknown"
The printers these pertain to are connected to one of my client pcs.  The errors occur through out the day when no one is even printing.  How can I stop these errors from occuring?  I'm not even sure why the WHS is even involved with a printer on a different pc.  I am wondering if this could relate to the problem I have had in the past where I was locked out of WHS because of to many incorrect log-ons.

  • The "errors" you are seeing are unimportant.

By default, when you connect to a PC using Remote Desktop, printers are forwarded so that you can print locally from your remote session. This requires that appropriate drivers be installed on the remote computer (your server in this case). For the most part, those drivers won't exist.

You can ignore the errors (remember that connecting to your server using Remote Desktop is unsupported by Microsoft), or you can save a custom Remote Desktop profile for your server, which has printer sharing turned off.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
