Windows 7 is not genuine after trying to updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have this old HP laptop with windows 7 ultimate on it. I tried to update it, which was also failed and along with that after restarting it is saying windows is not active and its product key is blocked or currupt.

However before shutting down it when i was downloading softwares from MS website it had asked a few times for software validation and worked just fine.

Can any one help me resolving this?

  • I also ran Checksur and sfc /scannow and here are the results

    sfc /scannow

    C:\Users\Administrator>sfc /scannow

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 86% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th
    em.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example

    Checksur

When I am trying to run CheckSur here is what I am getting in a pop up

    ===============

    [Window Title]
Optional update delivery is not working

But then this utility runs and does the following

    ---

    Initializing installation... done!

Installing Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) (update 1 of 1)...

and then after a while it says its completed. I have uploaded the logs of CheckSur on my skydrive as well please refer to CheckSur.log over there.

Its an HP laptop and  yesterday before shutting down the key was working just fine with windows, it was showing its genuine windows and I had checked the same on microsoft website.

This all happened after trying to install update yesterday, and I am unable to figure out why is the key changed/blocked all of a sudden.

  • That makes no difference whatever - the install is counterfeit.

For what version and edition of Windows is the machine licensed according to the COA sticker on the case?
According to HP's website, Ultimate edition is not even an option.
