The problem here is that the Key is the Default Key - which means that either you neglected to enter a valid Key when you reinstalled Windows, or something removed the proper Key from the registry.The machine is too old to have been supplied with Vista pre-installed, so your should have either a Full Retail copy of Vista, or an Upgrade copy - in either case the proper Key is in the DVD case.Use the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page to change the Key to your proper one, and then activate it.

In that case you will have to revert back to the original OS, or purchase a new upgrade/full license.
