Suggested improvement to the forums interface RRS feed

  • Question

  • Many subscribers sign into the web-based interface to start a New Question or Discussion.  I have noticed an increasing tendency for some subscribers to enter the entire text of the problem or enquiry in the "Title" field of the forums interface - instead of the body of the New Question or Discussion.

This causes problems for subscribers who prefer to use a newsreader client (such as Windows Live Mail) with the NNTP bridge to access forums.

Subscribers who have a 4:3 ratio monitor and view messages in the preview pane can only see the first 65 characters (approximately) of the title.  The remainder of the title is hidden from view.

To avoid this problem, it would be helpful if the Title field of the forums interface could be restricted to accept no more than 65 characters - as an absolute maximum.

We actually have a TechNet Wiki page for feature requests like this. Let me know if you want me to send you the link!

  • Hi,

Is there a reason the TechNet Wiki page link was not posted here?  Please post the link.

I do seem to remember recently seeing some changes regarding TechNet coming up, so if there's a better place to post suggests for the forums, please provide that instead.

    Best Regards,
