  • Question

  • Why do Microsoft insist that they are telephoned to unsubscribe to Live One Care.
Does anybody think these are unfair contractual practices as it is possible to subscribe electronically.
This means that Microsoft have an open licence to withdraw subscription renewals from your credit or debit card.
I attempted to telephone to unsubscribe but the number given was incorrect and another number was given. When I finally managed to get through, I was told that I was speaking to the wrong department and needed to try another number.
I will wisit my bank on Monday to try to prevent any payment being made to Microsoft and intend to reclaim for any losses through the courts if necessary.
    Anybody else having this problem?

  • I never understood why they required this.
However, at this point, since OneCare is at end of life, you should not be charged for renewal. You should be getting a free extension to the existing subscription while we await the release of Microsoft Security Essentials, the free antivirus/antispyware program that will be offered to OneCare users.
If you wish to contact someone via phone:
Unofficial path - send me an email at sboots@mvps.org with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste this link:

I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.

If you don't get an email response from me wthin 24 hours, post back as my email provider is getting more aggressive with the spam filtering.
