Options For Data Recovery RRS feed

  • Question

  • I searched for this in the forums but did not find anything pertinent.

One of the workstations (laptop) on my home network has encountered a serious hardware problem.  There is a chance either the motherboard or CPU is damaged.  This may be fixable but if I have to buy a new laptop is there any way to extract data from the most recent backup on my WHS?  Does WHS have the capability to restore anything except the entire drive image?  Of course, with a new laptop I will not be able to do a restore and recover my files since the registry entries would all be wrong.

    Thanks.

  • You can open a backup and restore single files or even entire folders. You'll find more information on this in the console help, or in the Home Computer Backup and Restore technical brief.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
