CRM 2011 New Domain Controllers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had 2 domain controllers DC1 and DC2 they are Windows 2008 R2. I have added 2 new servers DC3 and DC4 these are 2012.

The issue I am having is when I attempt to shut down DC1 CRM cannot authenicate users. All other services seem to be able to use the new DC3 and DC4 AD. Exchange domain logins etc all work with DC1 and DC2 turned off. The proper procedures were followed for promoting the DC's.

What I need to know is where does CRM store the domain server info.

  • Turns out the issue was in they way the original domain was built. The domain specialist had to manually rebuild the new domain controllers and then decommision the old one and we seem to be working now.

  • It could be a DNS issue. Is DC1 also a DNS server? If so, does the CRM server use it for DNS and does it have a secondary configured? If you run nltest /dclist:your.domain from the CRM server, do you see your full list of DCs?

  • Thanks for the reply Neil.

NLTEST show the old and new DC's. The new server also shows as PDC.

Logic dictates that it shouldn't matter which server is up as long as one of the DC's is up it should run.

    Very Strange.
